Learn the Art of Ethical Taxidermy with Lauren Hundloe

Taxidermy Instructor

Lauren Hundloe is a professional taxidermist based in Brisbane, formally trained in the United States under master artisans of the craft. Since 2015, she has led one- and two-day taxidermy workshops in both small mammal and bird preservation, sharing traditional techniques and modern ethical practices. Her welcoming Brisbane taxidermy studio provides the ideal learning environment — calm, creative, and fully equipped for hands-on training.

Class sizes are intentionally small to ensure every participant receives personalised instruction and one-on-one guidance, helping each student complete a lifelike mount they can take home with pride.

Step Inside the World of Ethical Taxidermy

Discover the artistry, science, and respect that define ethical taxidermy with Brisbane-based artist Lauren Hundloe. At Eternal Creatures, each workshop invites students to explore the connection between craftsmanship and compassion — preserving animals not as trophies, but as tributes to life and learning.

You’ll gain hands-on experience in small mammal and bird preservation, guided by traditional methods adapted for modern, ethical practice. These immersive classes are designed to make taxidermy accessible and transparent, blending anatomy, technique, and creativity in a calm, supportive studio environment.

Whether you’re an artist seeking new materials, a naturalist with a love for wildlife, or simply curious about the process, these workshops offer a space to learn, question, and create.
Taxidermy isn’t about death — it’s about preserving life, memory, and meaning.

What to Expect from Your Taxidermy Workshop

Each taxidermy workshop in Brisbane is a fully guided, hands-on experience led by professional taxidermist Lauren Hundloe. You’ll work step-by-step through the process of preparing, preserving, and mounting your own small animal specimen — typically a rabbit, rat, or bird — using safe, ethical, and museum-grade techniques.

Workshops are limited in size to ensure every participant receives personalised instruction and one-on-one guidance. Lauren explains each method in detail, from skin preparation and form building to posing and finishing — ensuring every student leaves with a lifelike mount they can take home and proudly display.

All tools, materials, and safety equipment are provided. You’ll also gain insight into the history, artistry, and ethics of taxidermy — developing not just technical skills, but a deeper appreciation for the natural world.

These sessions are suitable for complete beginners — no prior experience is required — and each class is conducted in a respectful, calm, and creative studio environment.

Expect to leave with new skills, newfound confidence, and a deeper connection to the beauty of preservation.
